For some time now, the Village has defined itself as Montréal’s gay neighbourhood. It is, in fact, home to one of the biggest gay communities in the world. But its greatest achievement has to be in creating a cool urban mix that unites the LGBT and straight communities. People flock to it for its thrilling nightlife and fine dining, but also for the cozy B&Bs in hundred-year-old houses, antique shops, and chic, specialized boutiques. Without a doubt, the nexus of fun is Sainte-Catherine Street, which each year converts into a traffic-free zone from May to September, allowing pedestrians to happily roam in a kaleidoscope of colours, just like a rainbow.
